César Daniel González Madruga


General Director of Sustainable Tourism Planning, SECTUR

Politician, pacifist, socio-environmental fighter, promoter of indigenous rights, writer and currently serves as general director of sustainable tourism management of SECTUR.

He has a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Ibero-American University, a Master in Digital Marketing from the Rey Juan Carlos University in Spain and a Master in International Tourism Management from The Ostelea University, in Barcelona. He served as coordinator of advisers in the CDMX Secretary of Tourism (2015-2017). He was a federal deputy in the LXI Legislature, presiding over the Climate Change commission in which the General Climate Change law was approved. He was a deputy in the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District in the VI Legislature and chaired the Tourism Commission (2012-2015). In that legislative period, he proposed the approved Environmental Law to protect the Earth in the Federal District, which includes the rights of Nature. He also promoted the rights of the pilgrim included in a program of religious tourism for the government of Mexico City. He was responsible for organizing the meditation of the deputies in the plenary session of the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District (ALDF) and that emotional health was included in the CDMX health law. He was president of the UN-Habitat Parliamentarians of America for climate change (2010 - 2012) and vice president of Globe International Chapter Mexico (2010-2012).

He is rector of the Mexican renaissance movement and after long activism the National Human Rights Commission classified him as a defender of environmental human rights.

For eight years he has been a columnist for the newspaper La Crónica de Hoy from where he promotes an awakening of conscience to restore peace, order and justice in Mexico. In addition to writing in La Jornada Maya and in the Diario del Istmo. He is the author of the books "The feelings of the heart of Mexico" and "Mexican Renaissance" and in 2018 the documentary film Mexican Renaissance based on the writings and struggle of César Daniel was released.

In 2015 he received the investiture of an Eagle Knight Quetzalcóatl degree by the Eagle Knight Order. And in 2017 the same order awarded him the baton, which in turn belonged to Carlos Monsivais.

He currently serves as General Director of Sustainable Tourism Planning in the Secretariat of Tourism of the Government of Mexico.
