Marcio Rivera, is Executive Director of the Association for Tourism Communities of Honduras - LARECOTURH and is responsible for promoting the socio-economic development of families and the governance of natural resources through the implementation of tools such as Sustainable Tourism and Fishing Responsible, in communities that are within or around protected areas in the Honduran Caribbean region. Specifically directs, coordinates and promotes the management of projects aimed at organizational and institutional positioning, improvement of basic infrastructure, business development, improvement and innovation of tourism products and services, national and international marketing, marketing to different segments market and above all the protection and conservation of the different ecosystems in the region such as tropical forests, wetlands and reefs.

He joined LARECOTURH in 2006, where he has had the opportunity since then to facilitate training processes, business development, socio-economic development, protection and conservation of natural resources, direct and lead the strategic vision of the organization, positioning it at the national level. and international as the only figure of rural community tourism in Honduras.

He is originally from La Union, El Porvenir, Atlántida on the Atlantic coast of the country, his secondary studies (baccalaureate) were carried out at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Agricultural School and later his Agronomic Engineering at the Regional University Center of the Atlantic Coast - CURLA. He has participated in various exchanges, in Peten and Puerto Barrios, Guatemala; Rio San Juan, Nicaragua; Tárcoles in Costa Rica, La Ruta del Tequila in Guadalajara, Mexico, Copenhagen, Denmark, Peru and Uruguay where he has been a speaker on rural tourism. In addition to working as executive director in the only Community Tourism Network in Honduras, he is also a tourism entrepreneur; since he has an Agro-touristic Farm called “Finca El Cayo” located within the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge, where he offers various services and products, which allows him to have coherence in the work that he develops as director.
