María Elena Martínez Delgado:
Executive President, Conservation of the Mexican Insular Territory, AC
He was born in Mexico City on August 15, 1960. He studied Biology at the UNAM 80-83 Faculty of Sciences with an emphasis on ichthyology at the UNAM Institute of Biology 1983-1990. He worked at the INE / SEDESOL 1994-1995 in the project Conservation of Biodiversity in Selected Natural Protected Areas of Mexico GEF / World Bank. He has a diploma in Coastal Management / Coastal Resources Center-University of Rhode Island 2000. He designed the conservation strategy of the Archipelago of the Holy Spirit as Heritage of the Mexicans 1993-2003. Her professional work has led her to develop environmental policy instruments such as management programs, community territorial ordinances under an integrated territory management scheme, development of instruments of Good Management Practices in whale watching, sport fishing, marine; she participating in the proposal of NOM's and NMX Voluntary Mexican Norms for tourism; advice for the certification of ecotourism companies in Protected Natural Areas; planning and resolution of environmental conflicts, development of public policies for the integration of biodiversity in the tourism sector in Mexico. Founding member of Conservacion del Territorio Insular Mexicano, A.C. (ISLA) 1995, holding the position of General Director 1995-2008, as Executive President of the organization 2008-2021 and General Director 2021. Member of the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development / SEMARNAT representative of Baja California Sur, before the National Council of the SEMARNAT 2005-2007 and representative of the social sector in Baja California Sur 2011-2014. President of the Advisory Council of the APFF Balandra 2016-2021. ISLA has the distinction of being a signatory of the Principles and Values of the Earth Charter on April 21, 2007 and Baja California Sur Focal Point of the National Network that promotes the Principles and Values of the Earth Charter Mexico 2013-2021 . She is a member of the Council of Civil Society Organizations of the World Bank's Global Environment Facility 2015-2021 (GEF / Wold Bank). She works as the Baja California Sur Focal Point Coordinator of the Integration of Biodiversity Conservation in the Tourism Sector Project with emphasis on coastal ecosystems rich in biodiversity SECTUR / GEF / UNDP / Amigos de Sian Ka´an, ISLA, WWF.
